Three for the Weekend, Issue #3
One single, one album, and a look BTS | 11.7.20
📻 Hi, thanks for tuning in to Arpeggio.
The focus of Arpeggio is to provide fresh, curated music as well as data & analysis of the music biz. Curated music is important because, in a world dominated by streaming companies, there are independent artists who deserve the spotlight.
In this curated series Three for the weekend, I’m sharing one single, one album, and one recording artist's creative process to listen to at your leisure over the weekend.
Following this Issue, I’ll start calling this the Friday Roundup, because the current name is a mouthful. The behind the scenes (BTS) content of an artist’s creative process will be curated with both artists and music enthusiasts in mind.
If you’re wondering why I haven’t written in a minute, it’s because I’ve been doom scrolling. But I digress… Issue #3, Enjoy!
“Evaporate”
This week’s single I’ve had on repeat is produced by Philly’s very own Lee Clarke, Ivy Sole, and Kingsley Ibeneche. It’s a feel-good collaboration between three rising artists from the city of Brotherly Love.
It’s also the perfect, low BPM change-up that matches the speed of Philly’s sloth-like pace of counting mail-in ballots.
Introspection
This album by Angela Muñoz has been my escape from the election news cycle whenever I needed a break. Although only an 18-year old Los Angeles native, she’s undoubtedly an old soul.
Her full length album Introspection is produced in collaboration with Adrian Younge, whose background spans hip-hop production, a scholarly appreciation for a broad spectrum of late-60’s and early-70’s sounds, teaching himself to play a multitude of instruments, and recording expertise in the analog domain.
Aaron Taylor–ICARUS, Interview with Oh Annie Oh
Icarus is Aaron Taylor’s album based on the Greek myth of the same name. The songwriting is thematic about aspiring to reach a higher level in his artistic sensibility and achievements. I’ve been listening all year and you can stream it below.
Thanks for reading & listening! I’d love to hear your comments, questions, thoughts.
